OG Kush

OG Kush makes up the genetic backbone of West Coast cannabis varieties, but in spite of its ubiquity, its genetic origins remain a mystery.  Regardless before there was Cookies - OG Kush was the king of West Coast mind control as every baller wanted a piece of this first class strain.  People demanded OG Kush all over California for quite awhile and then of course its crosses are too numerous to name here but many are part of the Califari Strain Art Series.

OG Kush is brought to us in true OG form by the amazing Jesse Hernandez!  Hernandez’s art combines traditional indigenous styles and themes with an urban street sensibility. His work utilizes bold line work, sharp colors, and dynamic imagery across many different mediums, most widely known for his custom painted toys, illustration, and canvas work. His style also draws upon his animation background. Hernandez worked full time for The Filipino Channel as Art Director/Co-Creator of the cartoon series “The Nutshack”, before moving on to create freelance artwork through his company, Immortal Studios and collaborate with all the big studios.

Jesse's artwork has been featured in many books and magazines such as Maxim, YRB, Giant Robot, Clutter, Playtimes, Dot Dot Dash, Great new Characters, Flux, and has participated in art shows all around the world. He currently has toys out with Kaching Brands, and Toyqube, and future releases with Kid Robot, Upper Deck, Minigods, Unruly Industries and Super Rad Toys.

Popular myth maintains that Chemdawg and Hindu Kush parented OG Kush, passing on the distinct “kush” bud structure we see in many strains today. However, we can’t be sure because OG Kush first came from bag seed in the early 90s. The earliest propagators (now known as Imperial Genetics) are said to have brought the seeds out of Florida to Colorado and southern California, where it now flourishes. There are many different phenotypes of OG Kush, some of which include Tahoe OG, SFV OG, and Alpha OG.

This OG strain is cherished for its ability to crush stress under the weight of its heavy euphoria. It carries an earthy pine and sour lemon scent with woody undertones, an aroma that has become the signature of OG Kush varieties and descendants. With OG Kush, patients most commonly cite improvements in migraines, ADD/ADHD, and stress disorders.

Califari sees it as a top ten pick for the all time Strain Hall of Fame and certainly a staple selection in our 2018, 2019 and 2020 Cannabis releases!
