Northern Lights stands among the most famous strains of all time. The strain’s exact lineage and history are obscured in mystery, but it is generally believed to be a mix of two land race building block strains – Thai and Afghani. A virtually pure Indica, it is loved for its resinous buds, fast flowering and resilience during growth. Northern Lights has a pungent, sweet and spicy aroma and is known by many to require very small amounts before the body high hits hard.
Northern Lights is named after or in reference to an Aurora, which is a natural light display in the Earth's sky, predominantly seen in the high-latitude regions. Auroras are the result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind.
This world famous natural light phenomena provided the perfect set and setting to employ the intriguing and dreamy style of Simon Haiduk. Simon's ability to interpret new dimensions of nature with a richness of color and movement along with his spiritually inspired British Columbia roots made him the perfect choice to activate Northern Lights for the Califari Strain Art Series.
Growing up in British Columbia, Canada, Simon Haiduk developed a strong affinity to nature with artistic foundations in visual art and music. In 2004 he gravitated towards painting as a full time endeavor bringing his musical background into the visual realm. Simon has explored many visual mediums, including animation, often with a strong influence in spiritual themes connected to nature. Currently his primary medium is digital painting. He continues to also produce music, and has released four full length albums. Within art galleries, festivals, conventions, and online platforms, his work is exhibited globally. He currently works out of his studio in Gibsons, BC, while continuing to explore an ever expanding palette of creative endeavors.
“Inspiring my creative expression is the majesty of nature with the love and appreciation that all life comes from the same source. In my dedication to the creative process, I strive to find ways of producing art that inspires harmony between the Earth and its shared inhabitants. Our collective appreciation for nature is a bridge that unifies us all. Each creation reflects an aspect of my journey, thinning the veil between physical and metaphysical realities.” – Simon
